MUSIC
(A Form of Prayer)
 
 
In the context of worship, music is a form of prayer at First Presbyterian Church.  Music is a unique form of prayer because music engages the souls of each of us in a way that spoken words cannot.  Music unites us in common prayer whenever we gather for worship. 
 
Although music is both entertaining and artistic, we do not use music as entertainment or as artistic display.  The musicians of First Presbyterians Church take great care not to use music merely as a cover for silence in worship.  Because music is prayer, our musicians insure that music in our services of worship is a worthy offering to God on behalf of the people.
